Strapping made simple
Everything you need to secure cartons and pallets—without the guesswork. Use the quick picks below or follow the short guide to choose strap, closures and tools with confidence.
Which strap when?
Polyester (PET)
- Great for cartons, mixed freight and most pallets
- High tension retention; safer to handle than steel
- Works brilliantly with battery tools for speed
- Typical widths: 12–19 mm (match to load weight)
Steel
- Best for very heavy, rigid or hot/abrasive loads
- Highest break strength and heat resistance
- Manual or pneumatic tools in fixed stations
- Typical widths: 19–32 mm
Closures
- PET: Friction/heat weld (battery tools) or buckles
- Steel: Open/closed/push seals with correct sealer profile
- Tip: Match seal/buckle size to strap width & thickness
Tools
- Manual: Best for small runs and mobile work
- Battery: Fastest PET option; consistent tension & seal
- Pneumatic: Fixed stations, large packs, steel strap
Edge & load protection
- Pallet corners/angles to prevent crush & strap bite
- Poly angles to spread load and stiffen stacks
- Strapping lances for safe feed under pallets
How to choose—at a glance
- Match the load: PET for light–medium and mixed; steel for very heavy/rigid.
- Size it right: Increase width/break-strength as weight and sharp edges increase.
- Pick closure & tool: Friction-weld + battery for speed (PET); seals + manual/pneumatic for steel.
- Protect edges: Use corners/angles to stabilize and prevent damage.

Plastic vs steel—what’s the real difference?
PET is lighter and safer to handle, with great tension retention for most pallets. Steel offers the highest break strength and heat resistance for very heavy or rigid loads.
Do I really need a dispenser?
Yes—dispensers reduce tangles and trip hazards, and speed up changeovers. They also help protect strap edges before application.
How do I pick the right seal/buckle?
Match the closure to your strap type, width and tool. PET commonly uses friction welds (battery tools) or buckles; steel uses open/closed/push seals with the correct sealer profile.
