Comparing Polypropylene (PP) and Polyester (PET) Strapping

Choosing the right material depends on the weight of your load and the required break strength. Industrial buyers typically choose between these primary categories based on their application:

Polypropylene (PP) Strap
The standard for light to medium loads. Available as hand poly strap for manual use or machine poly strap for automatic systems.
Polyester (PET) Strap
Superior strength and tension retention. PET is often used as a safer and more cost-effective alternative to steel strapping for heavy loads.
Polywoven & Composite
Soft, high-strength options that do not damage product surfaces. Ideal for securing irregular loads and heavy timber or machinery.

Quick Application Guide

Manual Strapping: Use hand poly strap or composite strap with manual tensioners and sealers for low volume dispatch.

Automatic Strapping: Our machine poly strap is specifically wound to ensure smooth feeding through automatic strapping machines.

Heavy Duty Containment: Use high-tensile polyester strap for palletised loads that require high tension over long transit routes.

Plastic Strapping FAQs

Is polyester strap as strong as steel?
While steel remains the strongest, high-tensile PET (polyester) strap is used as a safer alternative for many heavy loads. It offers excellent tension recovery and does not rust or damage your products.

What is the difference between composite and polywoven strap?
Composite strap is a "stiff" version of woven corded strapping, making it easier to thread under pallets. Both are highly resistant to weather and chemicals, making them ideal for outdoor storage.

Can I use hand poly strap in my strapping machine?
No. Machine poly strap is specifically wound on larger cores with precise tension to prevent jamming in automatic equipment. Hand grade strap is wound for manual dispensers.
