Honeycomb Cardboard
Honeycomb Cardboard for Strong, Lightweight Packaging
Pallet layers, inserts, dividers and edge protection, made from paper
Honeycomb cardboard has a hexagon-shaped paper core sandwiched between two kraft liners, just like a beehive. That structure makes it surprisingly strong under weight while staying light, so it can replace timber, foam and polystyrene in a lot of packaging jobs.
Manufacturers and warehouses use it for pallet layer boards, protective inserts and dividers that stack, brace and protect. It's recyclable with your other cardboard, and we can help you work out the right size and thickness.

Why Use Honeycomb Cardboard?
Strong Under Weight
The honeycomb core spreads load evenly across the board, so it holds up well to stacking and compression.
Light to Handle and Ship
Much lighter than timber or solid board, which makes handling easier and can help keep freight weight down.
Absorbs Knocks
The cells take up shock and vibration, protecting products in storage and in transit.
Recyclable
It's all paper, so it goes in with your other cardboard. A cleaner option than foam or polystyrene.
Common Uses
Pallet layer boards. Sit between layers of stock, or on top and underneath, to spread weight and keep loads stable.
Inserts and dividers. Separate products inside a carton so they don't rub or knock together.
Edge and corner protection. Guard panels, furniture and appliances against bumps in handling.
Bracing and blocking. Fill space and stop heavy items moving inside cartons and crates.

Common Questions
Is honeycomb cardboard the same as honeycomb wrapping paper?
No. Honeycomb cardboard is a rigid board with a honeycomb core, used for pallet layers, inserts and bracing. Honeycomb wrapping paper is flexible die-cut paper that stretches open to wrap fragile items, like a paper bubble wrap.
How strong is honeycomb cardboard?
Very strong for its weight. The core spreads load across the whole board, which is why it's used for pallet layers and stacking. Thicker boards carry more weight.
Can it be cut to my size?
Yes. Honeycomb board can be made in a wide range of sizes and thicknesses. Send us your dimensions and quantity for a quote.
Is honeycomb cardboard recyclable?
Yes. It's made entirely from paper and can go in with your other cardboard recycling.
Do you deliver honeycomb cardboard in Sydney?
Yes. We deliver from our Villawood warehouse, and delivery is free on Sydney metro orders over $300. Pickup is also available.
