Polyester Strapping Technical FAQ
Why is Polyester (PET) replacing steel strapping?
PET offers "elongation recovery," meaning the strap stays tight even if the load settles or shifts—steel does not have this property. Additionally, Polyester strapping is safer to handle, won't rust, and significantly reduces shipping costs compared to heavy steel bands.
What is the difference between Embossed and Smooth PET strap?
Embossed PET strap features a textured surface that provides excellent grip for the feed wheels in battery strapping tools like the Siat GT-Series. Smooth PET strap generally offer a superior seal compared to embossed and is preferred for fully automated strapping machines to ensure consistent feeding and maximum joint efficiency.
Can I use a manual sealer with Polyester strapping?
Yes, however, PET strap requires specialized serrated seals and high-tension manual sealers. Unlike polypropylene, PET is very hard and requires the serrations to "bite" into the strap to ensure a secure joint.
Is green strapping the only color for PET?
While green strapping is the industry standard for recycled PET, we also supply high-tensile Silver PET strap (like our 19mm PSPET19S) for heavy-duty industrial applications requiring maximum break strength.
